Established in 1862, Clifton College welcomes boarders from across the UK and the world who join with our day pupils from the vibrant and diverse city of Bristol. The college provides the most modern of facilities set among stunning historic buildings. We pride ourselves on providing an education where character is as important as capability. Through superb teaching and a wealth of academic choices we make certain that every young person is supported, encouraged and driven to achieve their very best.
Outside the classroom, our pupils are truly fortunate to have such a range of opportunities within the co-curriculum from superb sport coaching to an amazing range of clubs and activities. Here they develop as young people and realise lifelong interests and passions .All of this is underpinned by our pastoral care, rooted in the House system with its determined focus on seeing every young person make the very most of their time at Clifton, growing into kind, empathetic individuals. We aim to develop open-minded young people with a real understanding of the world around them, fully prepared for their future in a rapidly changing modern world.
For over 150 years the College has provided a base for the children of serving Forces and Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office personnel.
The newly opened Chellaram Sports Complex boasts a multi-purpose floor that accommodates multiple netball courts, tennis courts, badminton courts, basketball courts and cricket lanes, along with an indoor climbing wall. Clifton College is known for academic excellence, myriad opportunities, superb pastoral care and expert staff who deliver the very best learning and development. In 2024 73% of A Level grades were A* to B with 94% of pupils gaining places to one of their chosen universities.
They provide a richly diverse and connected school environment, representative of the real world. The College is housed in some splendid grand buildings but everything about the education they offer is modern.
The school has played an enormous part in shaping the young people we are today. Former Pupil
